Study Questions with Answers (Arts Stream Student)
1. Do you study or work?
I’m currently a student. I’m pursuing my higher secondary education in the Arts stream. I decided to focus fully on my studies at this stage because I believe it will build the foundation for my future career. I don’t work part-time yet, as I want to give my complete attention to academics.
2. What subject are you studying?
As I mentioned, I’m in the Arts stream, which includes subjects like History, Political Science, Sociology, and English Literature. I find this stream quite fascinating because it helps me understand both the past and the present, and also improves my analytical and communication skills.
3. Why did you choose that subject?
I chose Arts because I’ve always been interested in understanding society, culture, and human behavior. For example, when I was younger, I loved reading about freedom movements and great leaders, so History naturally appealed to me. Also, I enjoy subjects that require critical thinking and creativity, rather than just memorizing formulas, which is why Arts was a perfect match for me.
4. What is the most interesting part of your studies?
For me, the most interesting part is English Literature. I really enjoy reading novels, plays, and poems, because they open up different perspectives on life. For instance, when I read Shakespeare’s works, I not only learn about the language but also about universal themes like love, jealousy, and ambition. Literature allows me to connect emotionally with characters, and sometimes I even see reflections of my own life in them.
5. Do you prefer studying alone or with others? Why?
I usually prefer studying alone, because it helps me focus better. When I’m by myself, I can make my own notes, revise at my own pace, and there are fewer distractions. For example, if I’m preparing for a history exam, I like to create timelines and mind maps quietly. However, when it comes to group discussions, especially for subjects like Political Science, I enjoy sharing ideas with my classmates, because hearing different opinions can broaden my understanding.
6. Are there any subjects you don’t like studying? Why?
To be honest, I find Economics a bit challenging. Although it’s part of the Arts stream in some schools, I sometimes struggle with the graphs and data interpretation. I prefer subjects where I can express myself through writing and analysis, rather than dealing with numbers. But I’m trying to improve, because I know economics is important for understanding how societies function.
7. How do you usually organize your study time?
I try to follow a daily routine. I usually wake up early and study the most difficult subject first thing in the morning when my mind is fresh. Later in the day, I focus on reading or writing tasks that require creativity, like preparing essays for English or Sociology. I also make use of short breaks in between, because I believe studying for long hours without rest makes me less productive. For example, after an hour of revision, I might listen to music or take a short walk before starting again.
8. What do you plan to do after you finish your studies?
After completing my Arts stream, I’d like to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities or Literature. I’m also considering careers in teaching, writing, or even civil services, because these professions align with my interests in society, culture, and communication. In the long term, I’d like to make a meaningful contribution, either by educating young people or working in a field where I can influence society in a positive way.

1. Do you study or work?
I’m a full-time student, currently pursuing my higher secondary education in the Science stream. My main focus right now is building a strong academic foundation, because I believe science offers many career opportunities, and I want to explore them before stepping into the professional world.
2. What subject are you studying?
I’m studying core science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Along with these, I also have English as a compulsory subject. I find this combination quite challenging but rewarding, because it not only sharpens my logical thinking but also helps me understand the natural world better.
3. Why did you choose that subject?
I chose the Science stream because I’ve always been curious about how things work in the real world. For example, as a child, I often wondered how airplanes fly or how medicines cure diseases. Science gives me logical answers to these questions. Also, it keeps a wide range of career options open, whether in medicine, engineering, or research.
4. What is the most interesting part of your studies?
For me, the most interesting part is Biology, especially topics related to the human body. I find it fascinating to learn how different systems—like the circulatory or nervous system—work together to keep us alive. For example, when I studied how the brain sends signals to control muscles, I realized how delicate and complex life really is. It made me appreciate the value of healthcare and research even more.
5. Do you prefer studying alone or with others? Why?
It really depends on the subject. If I’m solving math problems or physics equations, I prefer studying alone because I need silence and concentration. But when it comes to biology or chemistry, I often enjoy studying in groups. For instance, during practical experiments in the lab, discussing results with my classmates helps me understand concepts more deeply.
6. Are there any subjects you don’t like studying? Why?
To be honest, I find Organic Chemistry a bit tough. There are so many reactions, equations, and mechanisms to memorize, and sometimes it feels overwhelming. I prefer subjects where I can visualize processes, like biology or physics. Still, I know chemistry is important, so I’m trying to practice more and use flowcharts to simplify it.
7. How do you usually organize your study time?
I try to follow a structured timetable. For example, I dedicate my mornings to difficult subjects like mathematics, because my mind is fresh then. In the afternoons, I usually revise theory-based topics like biology. I also set aside time for practical work and solving previous exam papers. I strongly believe in active learning techniques, like drawing diagrams or teaching a topic to a friend, because they help me retain information better.
8. What do you plan to do after you finish your studies?
After completing my Science stream, I’m planning to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Engineering. At the moment, I’m leaning more toward medicine, because I want to contribute to society by working in healthcare. However, I’m also open to research in biotechnology or environmental science, because I think these fields are becoming very important in today’s world.
