PTE Summarization Written Text Exercise 17
Sustainable Fashion Movement
The fashion industry is one of the world’s largest polluters, with fast fashion contributing to environmental degradation, water waste, and carbon emissions. In response, the sustainable fashion movement advocates for eco-friendly practices like recycling textiles, using organic materials, and reducing overproduction. Consumers are being encouraged to buy less, choose quality over quantity, and support ethical brands. However, challenges persist, including greenwashing—when brands falsely claim to be environmentally responsible—and higher prices for sustainable products. Governments and industry leaders are beginning to introduce policies and certifications to promote transparency and accountability. Although still a niche market, sustainable fashion is gaining momentum as awareness of its environmental and ethical impact grows.
